A bit more info for those taking part / attending:

Event Filming- full details tbc but a new deal looks to have been done for filming this years event all being well, last minute details still being sorted so further news early next week.

Camping Saturday night on site- as usual this is strictly competitors and team reps only, not public, and wrist bands will be handed out on site to ticket holders. The gate will be locked at 7pm prompt with no further vehicle movement allowed. Team reps etc are asked to ensure music and other noise is kept to a minimum and no engine noise/revving/testing allowed. Security guards will eject anyone risking spoiling the event by noise/bad behaviour on site.

Scrutineering/noise testing- Saturday- in pitlane. Between 4-5pm ideally, to keep noise to a minimum. Sunday- scrutineers will come to find the car in pitlane, and noise testing will be as discussed in driver briefing at 9.30am- 9.45am approx at the drag startline area.

Noise testing- the majority of cars will be tested at 103db static. Team reps who haven’t already identified their 10s or quicker cars subject to a 106db static test should do so before Tues 21st July on email to us. Please note that noise testing is static only, and carried out by Elvington site manager. bungs if used must be kept in as further static tests may be done at random during the day and cars may be eliminated if they fail.

finally as many of you are now aware this is my final TOTB after almost 8 years, as of Wednesday this week Trevor Duckworth of Straightliners has taken over full control of the TOTB events for this year and for future years. Having been involved from year 1 he is well placed to continue the TOTB tradition and will be taking the event forward. Dave Naxton will be looking after pitlane this year and competitors please introduce yourselves to him on the day as Dave is keen to meet all the people involved and to look after competitors and teams this year and in future years. I’ll be doing the final news update next week to you all and will help out with any last minute queries on email prior to the event weekend, but please copy Dave in on all correspondence from now;

I'd like to thank everyone for their help and assistance over the years and wish you all the best for the event and in future

I was planning on telling them today, obviously you all have the potential to run a 10 but if I tell them this you might have to prove it on the day ;)

On a serious note though, I do need to notify them, anyone who wants to be included on the 10 second or above list please let me know :thumleft:

Mitch, i am going very conservative. Mainly due to the fact i have not run a standing quarter since by re-build. If i make a 12 i will be happy, anything better than that is a bonus.

Should be. I checked with my db meter at the weekend and i registered 100db at 3/4 rev with the meter held at a 45deg angle approx 1mtr away from the tail pipes.

I checked a few others for reference at Munnsy's rolling road day and interestingly Ant (cantfindausername) registered 108db!! He has a departure 2 exhaust.

I'm not too suprised by that.
I measured mine a couple of months ago and got 110dB with a dep2 exhaust.
From memory it was 50cm though, not 1m.

Last update from Chris Mann:

To all

I'm advised I can now release my final TOTB news update, which is to announce that Trevor Duckworth on behalf of TOTB events has agreed a new TV/dvd package to film this year’s event, which will then be broadcast as a highlights programme on Sky Sports 1 on the 24th August 2009. (Transmission time tba)

The full footage will made into a dvd again and pre-orders will be taken on the day at the Japanese Performance magazine tent, in pitlane, where results displays will be running all day.

Also to confirm for all team reps/competitors that the event will still run if conditions are wet, subject to inspections, Trevor has asked me to confirm this to you all.

that’s my final email to TOTB reps and clubs and I wish you all the best at the event and in future!

regards

I wouldn't worry, most of the threads could be merged now anyway :)

Goole gives you a nice trip up through the backroads if you decide to go that way, some fun to be had.

Things usually finish at around 4:30 > 5:00 due to the noise restrictions on the site, that would include trophy presentations etc, people tend to start disappearing a bit earlier than that but I wait until later and help tidy up and miss the queue out of the place.

Definitely bring your own, it's not ridiculous on price but the queues are huge and if it's anything like last year they will run out of cold drinks by about 2:30 and start charging silly money for warm ones.

If it's the same catering lot as last years it's just one company with lots of different vans so they can fix the prices, no competition at all.

Bring what you can, you can always take it away again if you can't resist the charms of the stuff on sale :)

If it's just showers it dries really quickly when the sun appears, I'm staying positive for now.
