The "surrounding residents" are gonna ruin this event! ](*,)

What did they expect when they moved next to an airfield :-s

I think the airfield owner has just taken it too far in recent years, as well as the big events like this they hire the place out to trackday companies, car companies wanting to test, F1 teams etc etc - midweek it must be quite annoying for those lucky enough to live in the area but the F1 stuff seems to have been the real issue.

I'd love to live in Elvington so if anyone gets really annoyed with the place I'll be happy to swap houses :)

Nathan - are you going to be OK with the noise restrictions?

Is everyone else?

Last date for me to get entries to TOTB is Friday, we need to have the team in place by then, if you need to drop out now is the time to do it, if you want to enter then now is the time... I don't want anyone disappointed on the day if they fail noise testing.

Sorry it's a PITA but I don't make the rules.

Do they not think its time to move totb before the fast cars leave and its a load of novas racing (mind you most of them won't pass)

I think this is a joke. It has been going on for a while and its time something is done.
Nothing is going to happen over night while the same people live behind the track?! (I do feel for them, but they moved there!)

I'm happy to help by trying to reduce the sound of my car, but not beyond the point its not competitive or hurts the engine!

Do you know what kind of noise level your car is outputting? I have a db meter you can borrow if you need to check it?

I think the reading i have is wrong it was showing 119db at 5000rpm.

I've got another meter that I will do some testing with tomorrow.

Thanks for the offer tho Scott

I dont know about TOTB specifically but the usual test is 50cm from the exhaust pipe at an angle of 45degrees from the outlet.

You won't be able to enter on the day though Chris, the reserves are only in place for now really, people willing to step in before the last entry date if anyone in the 10 has to pull out.

If you want to run on the day I'll need you in the team now, otherwise there won't be much I can once we get into next week :(

Mr Canny,

Could you find out exactly how they're going to test us, so i can test it beforehand?

Cheers Michael.

I'll double-check but it's usually something along the lines of 103db at ½m away from the exhaust tip; meter pointing downwards at 45°; engine at ¾ rpm. Last year it all seemed a bit random, they practically had the meter in the engine it was so close on some cars.

The sound testing is being looked after by Elvington this time rather than TOTB or the people running the event, not sure if that means it will be better or worse :(

ACT Clutch company in the states are f'kin useless!!

Does anyone know where i can get a decent clutch that will hold 450+ftlb torque in the UK for a good price. Need to get hold of this within a week.

Ordered my ACT one start on June and they said 2 weeks to custom build and then would be shipped out. 4 weeks later you find out that they are changing the plate, so won't have it till the end of the month!! Toss pots!

Michael,

Is it true that they're going to be testing noise limit on the line everytime you run?

I had a plan to pass the noise test once... 8-[

There will be an initial noise test conducted by the people who own Elvington so that they comply with council orders, people with obvious baffles will be stickered accordingly and should the baffle disappear during the day and noise increase it's likely they will be tested again.

The council also have microphones around the area to monitor sound for the locals, really you need to be able to pass the initial test and then stick to that kind of level for the whole day.
