[Mk2] [NA] T-Bar seals

Post by mr2nut123 »

I've tried the clear silicone, and although its stopping most of the water getting in, I still get the occasional drip, as well as my car looking bodged with this sealent peeping out of the top of the car.

Exactly which rubber do I need to replace? I've had a look on the Flashmetal site to see which bit it is but there's loads!

The top 2 are for a coupe (non T-Bar), the next 4 are for the T-Bar - 2 each side. One goes on the glass panel and the other goes on the dor frame.

Clear sealant? I fixed mine with unipart black roof and gutter sealant with the car covered in clingfilm so it only got on the underside of the t-bar panel. You should only see it once the panel is out but since it's black it looks like part of the rubber on mine. I'd try it again before paying for new seals which wont always cure the problem (apparently, according to some).
Hope you get it sorted mate.

I saw this a while back on a previous post. Sorry .. i can't remember who posted it but I lifted the txt and saved in for a rainy day (no pun intended)!

Cheapest place for new seals is here :

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ ... id=1500266

Click on the 'Multiple Part Number Search' button and enter these parts numbers for a full set of seals for a T-bar

63628-17022 (Weatherstrip for T-Bar) Passenger Side
63627-17022 (Weatherstrip for T-Bar)
62382-17051 (glass t-bar panel seal) Passenger Side
62381-17051 (glass t-bar panel seal)

A full set of brand new OEM Toyota weatherstrips for $196.96, about £100 plus shipping which is estimated at $40 on the website, considerably less than what you'll pay in the UK even with import duty etc

Have you ordered these parts yourself from this exact website, also did they cure all leaks completely?

No sorry mate I never ordered them. I read it in this post:

http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... 6238217051

about 1/2 way down the page. Mine were leaking and I did the 'naughty' thing and used some vaseline ... naughty in that the petroleum in the stuff will eventually destroy my seals. I just give in to the fact that eventually I will have to buy some seals and these appear to be the best price. If you do a bit of searching on here some peeps actually say that new seals won't always fix the leaks. I guess you have to be sure that the positioning of your windows ets are correct. :thumleft:

For most stuff I do cos Jeffs never let me down with stuff, but when his t-bar seals are litterally twice as expensive as these from the above website, I just can't justify it lol.

Ive actually just reduced the price of my seals to be 40% off list - cant match those prices though :-(

I do however deliver next day, accept paypal and accept returns if faulty (not that they will be being Toyota of course!) :-)
