Power steering seems heavy....

Post by Rob »

Long story short - have had my Mk2 UK spec Rev2 N/A for 8 years. Converted to Turbo power 3 years ago this summer.

Although my MR2 has never been the lightest at steering I got in it the other day and realised it is actually damned heavy considering it has power steering.

What checks can I do to see if it is working properly?

The only things that I can think of are the obvious, check the fluid level is ok and that the motor/pump unit is running? You'll be able to hear the motor whining away to itself.

There are some tests you can do that query the PS ECU for fault codes in much the same way you can with the main EFI ECU.

Thanks guys - pump definitely makes a whining noise so it is working.

Will have a look into the error codes - cheers
